WISH UPON A SLEEPOVER

Suzanne Selfors

Bestselling author Suzanne Selfors brings heart and humor to the story of misfits finding true friendship where they least expected it.
All Leilani wants is to get in good with the Haileysthe most popular girls in her class. Since the Haileys are always bragging about their sleepovers, Leilani decides to throw the sleepover of the century and invite them, hoping that they'll finally welcome her as one of their own (even if she isn't named accordingly). But when Tutu, her Hawaiian grandmother, sends the invites to the DO NOT INVITE list, the three kids she definitely did not want at her sleepover show up at the door: William, the boy from the third floor who has selective mutism; Manga Girl, who always wears a hat and cape; and Todd, Leilani's lactose intolerant second cousin. To make matters worse, Tutu didn't buy any food, but left a strange recipe for "Sleepover Soup," which requires each guest to find and collect one ingredient that has significant meaning in their lives. When the ingredients are added to the soup and shared by the guests, they will all be granted their wish. Thus begins a scavenger hunt that takes the kids into each other's worlds, where secrets are uncovered, hopes are revealed, and three of the most unlikely friends find what they truly desiredacceptance. Suzanne Selfors is a national bestselling author, a board member of Seattle7Writers, and a member of SCBWI. It's impossible not to cheer for these unlikely heroes as they band together to search for special ingredients, battle secret fears, and in the end, make a wish so perfect, it just might inspire a generation of kids to whip up their own batch of Sleepover Soup. This book is a page-turning delight: fresh and funny and so full of heart. I couldn't put it down.
