Putin’s Global Campaign to Defeat the West

A groundbreaking portrait of Russia's global reach and the wide-ranging impacts of Putin's battle with the West.
Blending reportage and analysis, Russia foreign policy analyst Hanna Notte takes readers on a global journey through the new era of statecraft since Putin's invasion of Ukraine and reveals how this anti-Western turn will transform our world for decades to come. In six parts, the book explains how Russia is decoupling from the West's economies, promoting anti-Western narratives around the globe, consolidating influence in its immediate neighborhood, moving savvily in far-flung theaters, pursuing new alliances, and seeking to divide the West. Tracing the surprising global reach of Russian power, Notte's reportage spans former USSR states like Armenia, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, as well as South Africa, India, Israel, Finland, and the Gulf States. The characters include Russians doing Putin's bidding at home and abroad; propagandists and whistleblowers; refugees and refuseniks; formidable politicians and everyday citizens swept up by Putin's agenda. Taken together, these stories reveal a kaleidoscopic portrait of Russia's global impact.
