TWELVE STEPS TO A LONG AND FULFILLING DEATH

Sarah Smith

Stacey was trying to live her best life, but now she's dead. But why hasn't she passed on? Could it be that her fatal car accident is actually murder? Detectives Ed Beaufontaine and Rose Garafino certainly think so.
They have a long list of suspects, chief among them Stacey's fiancé, Liam. His business dealings and new relationship with Emily Jackson are raising a few eyebrows. As the detectives dig deeper, so does Stacey. With nothing but time on her hands, she forensically examines her past relationships - her pathological ex, unreliable father, controlling psychologist, and toxic girlfriends - realizing that she might have been better off without them. She's hoping she can steer the detectives in the right direction before she's doomed to wander for eternity. Because in the city of angels and 12-step programs, even the dead need a little help from time to time. Sarah Smith is one of Australia's most experienced TV drama writers and showrunners who regularly works in LA. She wrote and produced the telemovie Dripping in Chocolate for BBC Worldwide. Other writing and script editing credits include Wanted, The Alice, All Saints, McLeod's Daughters, Canal Road, Sea Patrol, Wonderland, and Love Child. Sarah co-wrote the psychological feature Nerve and is co-writer and producer of the thrillers The Girl Beneath and Black Water: Abyss. She has two feature films in pre-production and is currently collaborating with director Phil Noyce on a true crime feature film. She co-owns the production company, Cornerstone Pictures, and lives in Sydney.

A whipsmart and twisty debut that will keep you up all night.

Twelve Steps to a Long and Fulfilling Death is a breath of fresh air. It's laugh out loud in its skewering of LA culture as well as a whip-smart commentary on trying to #live your best life versus living by your own credo, all while swimming with sharks. In Stacey, Sarah Smith has created an unforgettable heroine in this warm-hearted debut about letting go of regrets and living every day like it is your last.
