TUTTO IL MIO FOLLE AMORE

Francesco Carofiglio

A story of courage, friendship, love, and resistance. A story in which dreams intertwine with the reality of a wounded Italy, while gunshots continue to echo in the background.
July 1943, Bari. The crack of gunfire pierces the stifling air, cutting short the peaceful march of young people fighting for freedom. Among them is Alessandro Latorre, seventeen, who watches helplessly as the violence unfolds, marking the end of innocence and the beginning of a harsh reality. Alessandro knows he cannot remain a bystander. Not far from his home, Radio Bari, once the voice of Fascist propaganda, is being rebuilt - now transformed into a beacon of resistance.

In the heart of this chaotic summer, Alessandro finds his place among young volunteers and intellectuals, working to revive the station as a symbol of cultural and political rebirth. Radio Bari, which had been created by Mussolini's regime in 1927, had served as a powerful tool for fascist communication. But with the arrival of the Allies, it evolves into one of the first free radio stations in Europe, transmitting not only resistance messages but also music, literature, and stories that had been silenced for years. It is a station that entertains, educates, and defies the darkness of war.

Among the music and microphones, Alessandro discovers not only his role in the resistance but also first love - Carolina, a beautiful and mysterious girl, enters his life and changes everything. Alongside her, there is Lallo, his restless cousin, who dreams of escaping a future that does not belong to him and a family that holds him back.

As friendship, love, and the weight of history intertwine, the summer of 1943 becomes a turning point for Alessandro, Lallo, and Carolina. In the shadows of war, they find a voice - and a future - worth fighting for.

Tutto il mio folle amore is above all a book about the emotional education to freedom. [.] Freedom is the other side of resistance, one that passes through books, the radio, and the ability to escape rhetoric.
