TROIKA
A sensuous, original novel about an unconventional relationship among three very different people.
Perla is Cuban-American. She lives with her mom in a rundown apartment in Miami’s Little Havana. And while her mother thinks she works as a waitress, she doesn’t serve food or drinks—instead she serves up lap-dances. Perla is a stripper in a middle-tier strip joint in Ft. Lauderdale. This isn’t the life her parents had in mind for her—in fact this isn’t the life Perla had in mind for herself either.
Julian is Russian. His father was a legendary hunter, known for his bravery, and perhaps killed because of it as well. When Julian is forced into an orphanage, he discovers that he might have more in common with his father than he originally thought. Taken under the wing by a gruff Siberian businessman, Julian makes his way to America… and years later into the club where Perla is dancing. One day an associate of Julian’s comes into the bar, hands Perla an envelope filled with cash and a plane ticket, and tells her that Julian’s wife would like her to come to New York City to meet her. And to everyone’s surprise, Perla goes.
Narrated with raw sensuousness and intelligence, TROIKA is an utterly compelling novel.
Adam Pelzman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in Russian Language and Literature. Among other things, he has been a private investigator, a software entrepreneur and a corporate lawyer. He lives in New York City with his son. TROIKA is his first novel.
