TRAITOR

Jonathan De Shalit

Hunting for spies in your own intelligence services is a horror show. In Israel, where the intelligence services can make the difference between life and death for the nation, treason is a pervasive and perpetual fear.
Traitor is a thriller that offers an insider’s look at the emotional and psychological costs of betrayal for both the hunter and the hunted.

This bestselling novel spent more than two months on the lists in Israel. Its story was not ripped from the headlines. But the security services had to vet the novel before its release.

After Traitor was published, pseudonymous author Jonathan de Shalit was described by Ha'aretz as a "high ranking member of the Israeli intelligence community.” Speaking to a reporter for the Tel Aviv daily, Ma’ariv, de Shalit’s publisher would only say "He is a senior officer in Mossad and this is the reason that his name cannot be revealed."

Shalit has translated James Salter’s A Sport and a Pastime and John Le Carre’s autobiography, The Pigeon Tunnel into Hebrew. He lives in Tel Aviv after some years abroad. Currently he is working on his second novel.

A first rate spy novel. an intriguing, spine-tingling document, that offers a peek into the world of shadows that exists in front of our eyes without our knowledge ..You can't take your eyes off it!

The main characters are so real and unique, I could say to myself that I know most of them. and as in real life, also in this novelthe end justifies all means.

The idea that every traitor is also one who has been betrayed is a fascinating one that gives de Shalit's writing a depth that is not present in other spy thrillers. It's a superbly written and thought-provoking bestseller.

One of the most talked-of books of the year. a polished spy thriller. that conquered the best seller lists and refused to let go.
