THERE I GO AGAIN

William Daniels

How I Came to Be Mr. Feeny, John Adams, Dr. Craig, KITT, and Many Others

Bill Daniels is an enigma – a rare chameleon who has enjoyed massive success both in Hollywood and on Broadway, where he has been embraced by fans of every generation. Few of his peers inspire the fervor with which fans celebrate his most iconic roles, among them Mr. George Feeny on Boy Meets World, K.I.T.T. on Knight Rider, Dr. Mark Craig on St. Elsewhere (for which he won two Emmys), and John Adams in the play and film 1776. Perhaps most remarkable of all, Daniels has achieved everything with the same woman by his side, his inimitably charming wife, actress Bonnie Daniels.
How did Daniels disappear so completely into such distinctive roles, and why did each character resonate so strongly with its viewers? There I Go Again delightfully reveals the wry, cantankerous man who so brilliantly humanized unlikeable characters, turning them into creations that felt real, memorable and beloved. A talented storyteller, Daniels guides readers through some of Hollywood's most cherished productions, offering candid recollections of legends such as Tennessee Williams, Lucille Ball, Jerome Robbins, Edward Albee, Lee Strasberg, Humphrey Bogart, Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall and many more.
Among Daniels's more colorful episodes, he morally refused the Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and bore firsthand witness to Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney's affair when he played alongside them in Two for the Road. He helped convince director Mike Nichols to keep Simon & Garfunkel's music in The Graduate, a choice that helped both the band and film skyrocket to fame.
There I Go Again is a book for every generation. It is for anyone interested in the inner-workings of the acting industry and the stories of its legends. It is for both old school and new school TV, film, theater, and pop culture enthusiasts. And it is for the millions of fans who cherish Daniels's iconic roles.

William Daniels, two-time Emmy-Award-winning Actor, is known for his longstanding stage, film, and television career. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Daniels began his lifelong career on the Broadway stage in Life with Father in 1943 and remained a steadily working Broadway actor for many years. His stage career culminated in the Tony-Award-winning musical 1776. Daniels has had an impressive film and TV career including standout roles in The Graduate, 1776, St. Elsewhere, Knight Rider, and Boy Meets World, to name just a few. He recently appeared in several episodes of the hit ABC Drama Grey's Anatomy and is currently working on the popular ABC Family series Girl Meets World. There I Go Again is his first and only memoir.
