THE VANISHING ACT

Mette Jakobsen

THE VANISHING ACT tells the enchanting story of a young girl living on a remote island - an island so tiny it can't be found on any map - with a handful of eccentrics. Her mother has disappeared and the body of a young boy has washed up on the shore, shaking the island's inhabitants.

Mette Jakobsen has created a magical world, with a voice that is unique and utterly captivating.

Mette Jakobsen has a Masters in Creative Arts from UTS, Playwright Studio from NIDA and a PhD in Creative Writing from UNSW. Some of her works include: "The Nightingale" (2002), a poetic narrative for radio, "Darwin's Wings" (2006), a play broadcast on ABC Radio, "The Anatomy of Horses" (2007), a poetic narrative broadcast on ABC Radio and "Dance of the Hungry Ghosts" (2010), a play broadcast on ABC radio.
