THE UP-DOWN
The Almost Lost, Last Sailor and Lula Story, In Which Their Son, Pace Roscoe Ripley, Finds His Way
This is the latest title in the series featuring Sailor and Lula, which began with WILD AT HEART.
Following the death of his mother Lula, Pace Roscoe Ripley decides to close his construction business and leave his home city of New Orleans in order to undertake what becomes a most unorthodox religious pilgrimage. Intrigued by the Up-Down, a mystical fifth direction identified by many ancient cultures, Pace embarks on a search for the center of consciousness that takes him to places previously unknown. Ultimately, Pace's quest leads him to his parents' point of origin, the small town of Bay St. Clement, North Carolina. It is there that Pace's process of discovery really takes place, resulting in revelations beyond his wildest dreams.
