THE TILTERSMITH

Amy Herrick

Author Amy Herrick dives into a unique Brooklyn fairytale setting and spooky Prospect Park, playing with mythical motifs, in a quest to save a community from peril. As four eighth graders cross the line between childhood and the next place, the winter solstice turns to the spring equinox and with it brings a whole new array of joys and dangers.
There were four of them - Edward, Feenix, Danton and Brigit.

They were bound tightly together because of an adventure they had stumbled into, an adventure that they could no longer remember. Have you ever had the feeling that you had once visited a place you no longer knew how to return to? If so, you will understand the way it went with them. Every now and then, the backside of a memory from this time would hurry past and vanish around a corner. But how do you speak out loud about something like that? So they avoided it.

If you would like to hear the story of what they had forgotten, stop here and go back and read about it in the first book. If you would prefer, however, to know what happens next, turn the page...

Amy Herrick is the author of two critically acclaimed novels for adults, At the Sign of the Naked Waiter and The Happiness Code. She is also the author of Kimbo's Marble, a fairytale read-aloud. Her most recent novel, The Time Fetch, is a modern day fantasy for middle graders and beyond. It is set in Brooklyn, NY, at the winter solstice when the door will sometimes open between this world and the one on the other side. Amy is currently at work on The Tiltersmith, a sequel to this last tale. Amy lives with her family in Brooklyn, near Prospect Park. Prospect Park is the perfect place for a writer and her dog. They walk there every day looking for ordinary, wonderful, stinky and magical things.
