THE THIRTEENTH WITCH
Witches, love, leather-jacketed bikers and a sixteen year old heroine who is a descendant of Joan of Arc, this is a highly commercial, enticing YA debut.
When sixteen-year-old Joanna Archer discovers she is a witch she also learns she has been chosen by her ancestor, Joan of Arc, to defeat the evil Blackcrux – a group of witchhunters who are determined to wipe out her kind - but she may have to pay a terrible price…
Chase a witch, scare a witch, burn a witch. These are the commandments of the Blackcrux, seeking to destroy their enemies and banish them to the Underworld. Joanna Archer lives in a sleepy village with her dad, the local vicar. Nothing much ever happens until one day a group of bikers storm into her life and her home is destroyed by fire.
Joanna discovers that not only is she a witch, with a black cross on her arm to prove it, but she has a secret. She can hear the voice of her ancestor, Joan of Arc, who was burned for being a witch by the Blackcrux seven hundred years earlier. With the help of her coven and, in particular, her Protector Gabe, Joanna - the thirteenth witch - is the only one who can defeat her enemies. But she must find her inner warrior and battle with fire, love and even death itself to stop them destroying everything that is precious to her.
This captivating first novel of love, fire, death and witchcraft is perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare and The Beautiful Creatures series.
Angela’s writing career started out in an unusual way. Her children’s fantasy adventure was the story behind award-winning park Hobbledown, based in Surrey. She runs creative writing classes in Oxford where she lives with her husband and children. Harley Davidsons play an important part in her debut YA novel. Following hours of researching motorbikes, Angela has now decided that she would love a vintage Harley of her own.
