THE SECRET HISTORY OF US

Jessi Kirby

In this gorgeously written contemporary YA a survivor of a near-fatal car accident must come to terms with all that was lost—including her memory of the past four years.
After spending a week in a coma, Olivia awakes to learn that she was in a near fatal car accident. She can't recall exactly what happened—probably normal for someone whose car, she learns, drove off a bridge, plunging great depths into the bay beneath. But when the doctors asks her some simple questions about her life, Olivia stumbles through the answers.

That's when it hits her—the accident may not have taken her life, but it took something else: her memory. Of the last four years. Gone is any recollection of starting or finishing high school, going to prom, or having her first kiss. The harder she tries to remember things—her boyfriend, Matt, what types of food she likes, or why she and Paige aren't friends with Jules anymore—the foggier everything gets. Trying to figure out who she is feels impossible when everyone keeps telling her who she was.

Then there's Walker. The guy who saved her. The one who broke her ribs pumping life back into her lungs. The hardened boy who's been keeping his distance. But he's the only person Liv can inexplicably be herself with—whoever she is.

With her feelings growing for Walker, tensions rising with Matt, and secrets she can't help but feel everyone is keeping from her, Olivia must find her place in a life she doesn't even remember living.
