Ray soon went on to become the first American to produce grand cru Burgundy wine from the coveted Le Chambertin vineyard, considered one of the best in the world. Ray Walker founded Maison Ilan in 2009, a small winery named after his daughter. Focusing on traditional and ancient techniques, he has crafted wines which have been critically placed among the best in the region.
