THE RIVER OF CAREGIVING

Sarah Gonzales Jocelyn Chung

A beautiful celebration of family taking care of one another through the generations.
My A-ma told me that in our family, our care for one another flows like a river. And like a river, the way we care for one another never stops. It connects each generation to the next and back again.

In this uplifting exploration of familial love and support, we see all the different ways caregiving flows through a little girl's family. Like a river, the way they care for each other is deep and wide and connects them all. These days her mother helps her grandmother get dressed, just as her grandmother used to help her mother when she was little. Her grandfather cares for her by picking her up from school, and she cares for him by helping him at doctor's appointments. Through occasions big and small, it's a comfort to know this river of love is ever-present and that she is an important part of it.

Jocelyn Chung's evocative text and Sarah Gonzales' gorgeous pictures remind us that our family's love is a gift to be treasured.
