1847. Petitjean, a young provincial man, arrives in Paris after escaping the repression in Buzançais, near Châteauroux, where starving farmers revolted.
Petitjean meets devoted Republican militants. With them he becomes one of the main contenders of the 1848 Revolution of France that will end with king Louis-Philippe's deposition and the proclamation of the 2nd Republic. But disillusionment is coming: the friendship between bourgeois and proletarians collapse in the first weeks of the Republican government.
Month after month, political fights become more and more intense. And if love enters his life, Petitjean doesn't lose his political opinions.
Meeting some real great figures, such as Lamartine, Blanqui or Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, Petitjean invites
