THE REGULARS
Three young women in their 20s are trying to make their way through life in New York City. One day these friends discover a magic potion called Pretty. And when they drink it, they turn BEAUTIFUL. Not just pretty—but supermodel gorgeous, perfect 10s! And boy, does being beautiful change their lives, presenting the girls with unimaginable opportunities to make their biggest fantasies come true. These choices test who they really are inside, and since Pretty’s effects only last a few days… what happens when these girls’ bodies and faces turn back into their ordinary selves?
Would your life be different if you were prettier?
Best friends Evie, Krista, and Willow are just regular girls trying to make it through their mid-twenties in New York. Regular girls, with average looks and typical quarter life crisis problems; like making it up the corporate ladder, making sense of online dating, and making rent. Until they come across Pretty, a magic tincture that makes the user just that… pretty.
With one drop of Pretty, each young woman becomes objectively beautiful—like, supermodel beautiful—for one week, and everything about her life changes. Heads turn, doors open, dating prospects elevate, self-esteems balloon. But, as the superficial gloss fades, each young woman starts to question something much deeper down. Are they losing more than just their average looks when they take Pretty?
Bringing to mind Lena Dunham’s Girls with an element of Alice in Wonderland, The Regulars is a snappy, fun, and fast-paced read that explores conventional ideas of identity and image and asks what you would do with the power of beauty.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Georgia Clark lives in Brooklyn and has worked as a freelance journalist for over ten years.
