THE NIGHT RAID The night shift in a WW2 gun factory provides the atmospheric backdrop to a story of hidden lives and untold secrets. World-renowned artist Dame Laura Knight is in her sixties when the War Office commissions her to paint propaganda pictures of munitions girls. She's sent back to her hometown of Nottingham and at first she relishes the opportunity for a nostalgia trip, but when she starts work on a portrait of two particular young women (Violet Smith, and her co-worker Zelah Fitzlord), memories begin to resurface that she has spent half a lifetime trying to forget. Violet, Zelah and Laura's stories are deftly intertwined in this third compelling wartime drama from Clare Harvey.


CLARE HARVEY was born in Devon, and spent part of her childhood living in Mauritius. She studied Law at Leicester University, and has had an itinerant adulthood as the trailing spouse of a soldier, working in journalism, charity PR and English tuition in Northern Ireland, Germany and Nepal. Clare has three children and lives in Nottingham
