THE LIBERATION

Kate Furnivall

Italy 1945. The war is over with Naples in ruins. Allied forces are in control. Caterina Lombardi is barely scratching a living in Sorrento, but when her dead father is accused of corruption and treason and her young brother is kidnapped, she fights to discover who is destroying her family. Who should she trust? Who is the enemy now?

She struggles to support her blind grandfather and young brother, but her whole world is turned upside down by two Intelligence Officers, one American, one British, who are searching for stolen historical artefacts in the post-war chaos. Violence follows them. Lies, secrecy and threats to her life pursue her until she risks everything to confront them. A powerful story of love and Italian vengeance.

KATE FURNIVALL Her first book became an international bestseller on both the New York Times and Sunday Times Bestseller lists. She writes epic historicals set in exotic locations at a time of turmoil, which she loves to research. She was born in Wales but her grandmother was Russian, which triggered her interest in that country where she set a number of her books. She studied at London University and had fun working in advertising in London as a producer of tv commercials, before settling by the sea in glorious Devon.

Kate was shortlisted for the Historical Romantic Novel of the Year – RoNA 2016
