THE LADIES ROAD GUIDE TO UTTER RUIN

It is one week since spinster twins Lady Augusta and Lady Julia helped Lord Evan rescue his sister, Hester, from the brutality of an insane asylum. Gus and Julia are now hiding Hester and her staunch love, Elizabeth, in their London home away from Lord Deele, Hester's other brother and guardian. They know that Deele is determined to find the couple and tear them apart again, but Hester is too frail to flee. Somehow, they must find a way to keep her safe. But how?

Meanwhile Lord Evan has decided to stay in England to keep watch over his sister, although he is still a convict and being hunted by both the Bow Street Runners and Mulholland, a ruthless thief-taker. Gus is delighted that her beloved is still nearby, and terrified that he will be captured and hanged before she can discover the truth about the deadly duel that sent him to a prison colony twenty years ago.
Gus arranges a meeting with one of the witnesses at the duel and discovers a tenuous clue. Determined to pursue it, she arranges to meet Lord Evan again and enlist his help. However, Mulholland has discovered her link to Lord Evan and will do anything to kill the disgraced nobleman and claim the bounty on his head.

And so begins a deadly cat and mouse game across England that will take Gus, Julia and Lord Evan into a dangerous underworld of resurrectionists, smugglers, and spies that will test their bonds of love and family to breaking point.
