THE KIZUNA COAST takes us to a small town in Japan that's just been devastated by the tsunami of 2011. Rei goes in search of a beloved older friend, but what she finds besides the devastation from the tsunami is an unsolved murder of a young woman. In the midst of cleaning up the mud and debris and looking for bodies, the police don't have time to investigate what looks to Rei like a suspicious death. On her own Rei unravels the clues she finds and gets the answers she needs to find the murderer. Full of atmosphere, this feels like a first-hand account of what life was like in the immediate aftermath of the terrible events of 2011.
