The Jungle Midwife

What do you do when the sorcerer knocks on your door in the middle of the night and requests a band aid? For 38 years, Sister Ilse Roennpagel carried God’s Light into the “green hell” of Brazil. As a midwife she is continually moving around in the never-ending jungles of the huge country. “The Mother of the People”, as the Indians call her , gives 2,000 children their start in life. She brings medical aid and offers sewing classes, hygiene and reading instruction – but most of all she brings the Word and the Love of God.
