THE ICE CHIPS AND THE MAGICAL RINK
The Ice Chips and the Magical Rink is the first title in a new middle grade series written by Roy MacGregor with his daughter Kerry MacGregor, and illustrated by the wonderful Kim Smith. Perhaps unsurprisingly given that it's coming from Roy, it's hockey-centric and so its appeal may be limited in the translation world, but we think this is a really special title.
If you could travel through time, who would you want to meet?
Lucas Finnigan eats, sleeps and breathes hockey. With his friends Edge, Swift and Crunch, Lucas plays on his hometown's rink, dreaming of the day when he knows he'll make the NHL. But lately money has been tight at home, and, after a major growth spurt, Lucas is forced to wear hand-me-down gear that doesn't quite fit right. ROY MACGREGOR is a member of the Order of Canada. He's a bestselling, prolific author of both fiction and non-fiction, writing mainly about Canadian topics. He's most recently authored Original Highways: Traveling The Great Rivers of Canada (forthcoming this November), and Canoe Country. He's perhaps best known as the author of the bestselling Screech Owls series, the more recent editions of which were co-authored by his daughter KERRY MACGREGOR. Kerry has a long, storied history in newspaper and magazine writing, as well as news reporting. Kerry lives in France with her husband and two children.
