THE HUSH TREASURE BOOK

An absorbing collection of stories, poems and artwork by a stellar cast of Australian children’s book creators specially commissioned by the Hush Foundation to provide a calming and soothing environment for seriously ill children, their families, and the medical teams that work with them.

This large format 48pp illustrated book is a sumptuous and moving anthology of stories, poems and illustrations for pre- school and primary-aged children featuring thirty of Australia’s best-loved children’s storytellers, including mega stars Jackie French, Alison Lester, Shaun Tan and Bob Graham as well as rising stars like Michael Camilleri and Judith Rossell. Between them they have created a world of magic, wonder and mystery. Senior Physician Dr Catherine Crock founded the Hush Music Foundation while working with children with cancer at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. She decided more could be done to reduce distress and promote an atmosphere of healing and peace, so she brought together some of Australia’s foremost professional musicians and composers with an inspiring vision. The Hush Treasure Book was commissioned to serve the same purpose. This year, Crock received an Art Music Award for her contribution to the Australian music industry, another gong in a growing list of accolades in recognition of her outstanding achievements. www.hush.org.au Founded by Royal Children’s Hospital Dr Catherine Crock in 2001, Hush has produced 14 albums of original music to bring peace and hope to patients and their families going through difficult times. Distributed to every children’s hospital in Australia, all profits from sales go to the children’s hospitals for research and patient care. In 2014 the Foundation announced it was working on The Hush Children’s Treasure Book, a collection of short stories and illustrations by authors from all round Australia who have been inspired by the Hush vision of better patient care.
