THE GIRL WHO CHASED OTTERS
Nathan has Asperger's syndrome, and has never really understood the point of trying to fit in. But that is all that Olivia wants. When she comes to Nathan for help, he realises that his ability to make astute sociological observations and perfect memory of human behaviour can help Olivia achieve her dreams; in return, she lets him into her world, taking him otter-spotting at a nearby sanctuary. However Olivia's newfound popularity is by no means the end to her problems, and she soon finds herself caught up in a malicious world of rumour, gossip and bullying. Desperate to please her new friends, she is taken advantage of by the boys and humiliated by the girls. As Nathan watches her struggle, he longs to help - but this is a world that excludes anyone who's different, and Olivia is quickly becoming someone he does not recognise. Has the girl who chased otters disappeared forever, and if she has, will their friendship survive?
