THE GIRL FROM FELONY BAY
This wonderful middle-grade mystery introduces Abby Force, a 12 year-old spitfire whose life has been turned upside down by a fall from a ladder that's left her father in a coma and seen him accused of trying to rob a client.
Abbey Force’s life was turned upside down the afternoon a freak accident put her father into a coma. She found him on the floor of the library in their old plantation manor, surrounded by gold and jewelry bearing the initials of an elderly client from his law firm. Unconscious and unable to explain himself, everyone assumed the worst and the family home was sold to cover the cost of the missing valuables. Now, Abbey lives with her horrible Uncle Charlie…and is determined to prove her father’s innocence. Along the way, she befriends Bee, the girl who’s moved into her old manor (who has some family traumas of her own) and together they uncover a sinister scheme that is much, much bigger than they could have imagined. This Southern mystery is in the vein of Carl Hiassen and with elements of John Grisham’s Theodore Boone - Abbey Force is definitely one to be reckoned with. John Thompson spent twenty-five years as an investment banker before retiring to write full time. He lives with his wife and daughter and divides his time between Charleston, South Carolina, and a mountain home in Hawley, Pennsylvania. He is actively involved in his local community, serving on the boards of The Charleston Education Network, the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation and the National Advisory Board of Donors Choose, a charity selected by Amazon.com in 2005 as America’s Most Innovative Non-Profit.
