THE FRIENDSHIP PARADOX

Aśka

Part road trip novel, part physics text, part friendship story, this gorgeous graphic novel defies convention and radiates empathy and talks directly to readers finding their place in a perplexing world.
Dash is a recent school graduate navigating the first year uni work placement circuit a square peg in a round hole who tries to comprehend human relationships through the laws of physics.

Dash finds friendship exhausting; an enigma beyond comprehension. When they start a dream placement at a science education hub, teaching kids early science concepts, Dash thinks everything will change, and they will meet people just like themselves. But the workplace is as challenging as high school relationships are fraught and confusing, the students don't follow the rules, and co-workers are not what they expect.

When Dash meets Kay, fellow intern, who is haphazard and disorganised and hence completely different to them, Dash cannot see a way to develop any rapport. But when Dash tries to apply the principles of physics in an attempt to control their new world, they discover that the true essence of friendship is something that defies even the most brilliant equation.

There are three laws of the universe: 1) A?ka is a great storyteller. 2) This book is good. 3) You need to get this.

A book that reminds us of our place in the vastness of the universe and the rarity of finding a true friend amongst it all. I feel truly grateful for how this book made me feel and think.

Dynamic, nuanced, fun a road trip and friendship story like no other!

A rollicking adventure through science, relationships and the mess of life that offers a whole new way of understanding the world around and inside us.
