THE DREAM OF YOU

Jo Saxton

Let Go of Broken Identities and Live the Life You Were Made For

With a strong teaching voice evoking comparisons to Christine Caine and Lisa Bevere, rising speaker and leader Jo Saxton confronts women on the mistaken identities that bound them, pointing them to help and hope in Scripture and through recognition of self-worth.
Working from the core message of Ephesians 1:11, Jo Saxton implores women to reject mistaken identities and affirms readers with the Biblical truth that "In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will." [The Message] By taking personal stories from her own life, growing up the child of Nigerian immigrants in the UK, for a time in foster care and then facing a complicated home life situation, she helps identify key scenarios where identities develop that are not true to God's vision for his child. Some of the issues of identity addressed include, knowing one's name, embracing the gifts each has been given, confronting body issues, experiencing seasons of depression or grief, and letting go of perfectionism.

She invites the readers, through thorough Biblical examination of texts where identities are in question or being developed, to accept being seen by a loving God, being known by him, and allowing their broken stories to be redeemed. Turning them to redemption stories. Becoming oaks, like the broken Israelites did.
