THE DARK LIGHT
Mia Stone's life in the sleepy town of Crownsville was just like any other teenager's going to school, working a part-time job until the arrival of a mysterious new student, Sol. And the sudden disappearance of her little brother Jay.
Soon it's clear to Mia that Sol has a secret: he knows who or what took Jay, and it's not human. Neither is he, for that matter. Sol comes from an alternate dimension called Brakaland that's full of danger and magic. As Mia explores this gateway to another world that's populated by people the likes of which she never could have imagined existed tails, scales, eyes of every color, and skin of every shade she learns that the industrial expansion and unnatural technologies in our dimension are somehow causing ruin in theirs. Sucks for Sol. But he's not the only one who's upset: the Suze-rain, a dark and magical overlord, wants to march his army of demons through the barrier between worlds and destroy humankind.
When Mia learns Jay is integral to the Suzerain's plans, she realizes saving her brother also means saving her world. But the demons of Brakaland are as numerous and diverse as its people, so first she'll need a crash course from Sol in demon slaughter, sword-wielding, and dark magic for begin-ners. Which won't be easy, because she's hot for the teacher himself.
Sara Leigh Walsh is a native of the United Kingdom. She now lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with her American husband of fourteen years. A local news event inspired The Dark Light: a boy mysteriously reappeared, after being missing for over a decade in the Great Plains.
