THE LEFTIST DIRTBAG'S GUIDE TO THE REVOLUTION is a call to action as well as a survey of the blasted landscape of contemporary politics and culture through Chapo's patented ideology of irony, Marxism, revolutionary discipline, and the Internet. Bernie Sanders' unexpected success in the 2016 Democratic primary destroyed the false choice between political parties: it turns out that you don't have to side with either the vampires on the right or the bloodless corporate wonks on the left.
While this is a satirical guide to American politics and culture it also offers plenty of real info and ammo for every Left-curious millennial looking for a way to understand (and laugh at) the shit storm we're in. Some of Chapo's targets:
The Left: Everyone loves a liberal, or so they tell themselves. How is it that not really believing in anything other than not being Republican has somehow fallen out of favor?
The Right: The truth is the right wing in America is a lot like Dracula: a grotesque avatar of inherited wealth who is unkillable, vaguely homoerotic, and nourished by the blood of peasants.
The Media: A history of the news media from the early days of the printing press to the dawn of the "blogosphere," and strategies for how startups may best to exploit millennials for clicks.
Work: As technology and civilization have advanced, capitalism has dramatically increased both the number of people living in comfort and splendor and the number people whose lives must be destroyed to make this possible. This is called "The Global Economy," and this book will teach you how it works.
Tech: An exploration of the engine that drives innovation and disrupts of all the old ways of being human, including Silicon Valley press releases from the very near future, illustrating a better dystopia, today.
The World: Finally, in a hasty and tossed off manner: all the things that happen outside of America, which unfortunately still affect us.
CHAPO TRAP HOUSE is a collective of six writers, artists and satirists that began as a weekly podcast in March 2016. Their bi-weekly podcast has been covered everywhere from The New Yorker and The Guardian to VICE and Paste magazine, which calls its creators "the vulgar, brilliant demigods of the new progressive left." CHAPO is a mix of absurdist comedy and freewheeling commentary, skewering political and media figures and reviewing bad movies and books. Originally a trio of Internet-pals Will Menaker, Felix Biederman and Matt Christman, the show has
