THE BEATLES FROM A TO ZED

Peter Asher

An Alphabetical Mystery Tour

A legendary record producer and performer takes readers on an alphabetical journey of insights into the music of the Beatles and individual reminiscences of John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
Peter Asher first met the Beatles in 1963 when his sister, actress Jane Asher, began dating Paul McCartney; this was the start of a lifelong association with the band and its members. Asher had a front-row seat as the Beatles elevated pop music into an art form, and he was present at the creation of some of the most legendary music of the 20th century (for example, he was the first person outside of the Beatles to hear "I Want to Hold Your Hand"). A talented musician in his own right, Asher had a #1 hit with "A World Without Love" (written by Paul McCartney) with his band Peter and Gordon. Later, he was tapped by the Beatles to be the first head of A&R for Apple Records, and became a multiple Grammy award-winning music producer.

Until now, unlike so many in the Beatles' circle, Peter had never written a book. In THE BEATLES FROM A TO ZED: An Alphabetical Mystery Tour he takes readers on a fascinating and idiosyncratic journey through the alphabet, providing fresh insights into the music of the Beatles and individual reminiscences of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. It focuses not only on songs whose titles start with each letter, but also on recurrent themes in the Beatles' music, the instruments they played, the innovations they pioneered, the artists who influenced them, the key people in their lives, and the cultural events of the time.

Peter Asher is a singer, musician, record producer and writer, and he is the winner of multiple Grammy Awards, including twice being named Producer of the Year. Born in London in 1944, he got his start as half of the duo Peter and Gordon and was the first head of A&R for Apple Records. Today he continues to perform regularly in addition to his ongoing music production for records and movies. He lives in Malibu, California with his wife, Wendy.
