THE BEAR WHISPERED TO ME

The story is a fairy tale for adults in which a bear, who knows how to write, sets the first riddle of an aboriginal tribe legend.
A boy who understands the chirping of birds, a bear´s soul, a group of bears, a mysterious ceremonial, and lost myth. The real bear and the fake bear weave a sad story of the protagonist´s destiny of belonging neither to bears, nor to humans. In order to express the loss and isolation of the border protagonist, the background of the story is set in a disappearing aboriginal tribe.
All the characters in the story live by believing and touching, expressing love and friendship with nature, but suffering loneliness and frustration.

Chang, Ying-Tai is a Taiwanese writer. She is also Professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and the Director of the Center for Art and Culture. She has won various major literary awards in Taiwan, represented by a total of twenty-six literary prizes such as China Times first prize for fiction and prose; United Daily Press first prize for fiction; Central Daily News first prize for fiction; annual award for fiction; etc. Her work has been selected for inclusion in various literary anthologies on mainland China and in Taiwan and has been continuously listed among the Best Taiwanese Fiction at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
