Mason and Ty are more than best friends, they share a mind. It's been that way for as long as anyone at Pasco Middle School can remember. Then a new girl comes to town. Ava is cool, smart, and choses to hang out Mason and Ty, the science nerds, rather than the popular kids. Both boys are instantly hooked.

Two best friends crushing on the same girl is a recipe for disaster. When Mason is seen kissing Ava at the Pasco harvest festival it is the end of his friendship with Ty and they become arch enemies.

Flash forward five years, Mason and Ty are still enemies, Mason's parents are divorced, his dog is dead and Mason only looks forward to leaving is highschool life behind for good. But after a run-in with Ty during which a teacher gets hurt, he is expelled from school and on his way home, fuming with anger and not paying attention to the traffic, he is getting hit by another car...The accident knocks him back five years, to a time when he is still friends with Ty. While trying to figure out how to get back to 17, Mason now has the chance to save his parents, save his dog, and most importantly, save his friendship.
