SWING!

James Yang

A young girl learns how to manage her emotions and channel her tennis hero, Arthur Ashe, in the new book by Geisel Award-winning creator James Yang.
A young girl wants to be like her hero, tennis superstar Arthur Ashe. When she isn't at school or watching his games, she's on the tennis court with her dad trying to hone her skills. But unlike Ashe, she has a temper that she can't seem to control. When she can't master her backhand, when she feels left out at school, and when another boy in her class seems to always be in her spaceall she sees is red, and she often says things she shouldn't.

When her mind feels like it's bouncing back and forth like a tennis ball, her father encourages her to take a breath and focus. After all, being a tennis star is about much more than what you do on the court, it's about how you carry yourself off the court as well. Just like Arthur Ashe.

Geisel-winning author and illustrator James Yang has created an unforgettable story about the special relationship between a daughter and her father, the lessons they learn from their shared role model, and the power we can have over our emotions when we take a deep breath, focus, and swing!
