STEP UP YOUR GAME

Naresh Rao

The Revolutionary Program Elite Athletes Use to Increase Performance and Achieve Total Health

How and why do elite athletes consistently perform at the highest levels, and what separates them from those of us training for our first marathon or even simply trying to lose weight? As a sports and wellness medical practitioner, whose clients include Olympic and professional athletes, as well as weekend warriors, Dr. Naresh Rao has the answers.
The elite athlete knows it takes more than practice to master their sport. They must consider their diet, health, physical, psychological, motivational and spiritual needs to stay at the top of their game. For the lucky few these roles are facilitated by an entourage. Even for those athletes who seemingly perform alone, success is a team sport, dependent on coaches, nutritionists, physical therapists and psychologists. Dr. Rao has created STEP UP YOUR GAME to provide the best practices of each of these team roles so that anyone can organize their training like an elite athlete, even without the entourage. STEP UP YOUR GAME will be packed with cutting edge information and the latest research that pertains to each role in the team. Dr. Rao will discuss both the physical and psychological components to attaining peak performance, along with injury prevention, a comprehensive nutrition program, workouts that support any athletic endeavor, and an overall wellness plan. Dr. Rao’s highly successful program works for those who participate in team sports or individual competition, and applies to all athletic pursuits. As well as using his own vast experience and knowledge, Dr. Rao’s relationships with sporting elites from Olympic gold medalists to World #1’s and serial triathletes, will give readers unparalleled access to the leaders in their athletic fields. These contributors will provide insight and easy to use tricks and tools that are guaranteed to get results. Dr. Naresh C. Rao is an award-winning primary care sports medicine specialist. He is the co-founder and former Medical Director of Lifewellness Institute, a revolutionary wellness center based in San Diego. Now based in NYC he serves as Clinical Faculty for the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Plainview Hospital and is on the clinical faculty at NYU School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. In Step Up Your Game, Dr. Naresh Rao accurately zeroes in on what makes athletes maximize their potential. From the beginner athlete to the Olympian, this book has practical tools for all levels. The effectiveness of the book is that it can be used for any sport, it is beautifully laid out in an easy-to-follow format, and you don’t have to go hire expensive consultants to get high performance guidance. I highly recommend it!

It takes a village to raise an athlete. Athletes need coaches, mentors, trainers, therapists, psychologists, and others for guidance and support. Step Up Your Game emphasizes the importance of the ‘entourage’ approach to training and helps get athletes ready for the starting line.

After more than thirty-eight years of experience as a professional tennis coach and player, I can say without hesitation that Dr. Naresh Rao’s Step Up Your Game is the most comprehensive and effective sports performance book I have experienced. If you’re interested in success as an athlete at any level, I strongly recommend reading this book.
