SOMETIMES AT NIGHT
This is Ben Sanders' third novel to feature ex-undercover NYPD officer Marshall Grade.
In this new novel, Marshall, living in New York again, is approached for help by a former colleague, Ray Vialoux. As a cop, Vialoux always lived in a moral gray area, and he hasn't strayed far in his retirement. Ray has a gambling debt with the mob, and he needs Marshall as a potential middleman to help buy him some time. From his years of undercover work in the city, Marshall knows the mob world better than anyone, but he's reluctant to get involved. These days, he'd rather stay at home and work on a 1000-piece Jackson Pollock jigsaw puzzle. But his old colleague's predicament isn't something Marshall can just walk away from: Ray is murdered right in front of him in the opening scene. Soon after, Vialoux's wife Hannah calls 9-1-1 to report a masked man outside the family home, staring in their window.
It's clear there is far more to this story than just debt recovery. But which of the drug dealers, bag men, killers, bent cops and mob players in Vialoux's orbit is responsible for his death? And why? What secrets are Vialoux's family hiding, and can Marshall get answers before his past affair with Hannah Vialoux marks him as a suspect?
SOMETIMES AT NIGHT is another thrilling read that fuses Sanders' penchant for fast action, pounding suspense, clean prose, and crackling dialogue with a fresh layer of paranoia and domestic noir. Ben knows it has been a few years since Marshall had a book; this novel can function as a standalone novel for new readers, while complementing the two previous acclaimed books in the Marshall Grade series which novels sold in multiple territories, received widespread praise, and were bestsellers in A/NZ.
BEN SANDERS is the author of seven highly acclaimed thrillers, including the international bestselling Marshall Grade series (AMERICAN BLOOD and MARSHALL'S LAW). His work has been published in multiple languages and territories, and optioned for film and television by major U.S. studios.
