Drew Magary

Someone Could Get Hurt is a compulsively readable, heartfelt, and often hilarious account of how a family in today's culture works at the ground level.
Stories covered will include Princess, about his daughter’s ballet teacher who dresses the children up in Pocahontas costumes and then screams, “The paleskins are coming!”; Flathead, about their attempts to save their first son from having to wear a helmet for his plagiocephaly; and Funland, about the time his child became trapped on the third story of an impenetrable fortress at the amusement park.

Drew Magary's posts on Deadspin and Gawker have attracted millions of views and lead to a permanent gig as a correspondent for GQ. He's also the author of THE POSTMORTAL a critically acclaimed novel that was nominated for the 2012 Philip K. Dick award and the 2012 Arthur C. Clarke award. THE POSTMORTAL is currently on its fifth printing, has been licensed to five territories. Drew also wrote MEN WITH BALLS: The Professional Athlete's Handbook. Parents will feel a little less alone in the company of these chapters, and non-parents will get a moving, utterly entertaining glimpse into a world that might be theirs someday.

Absolutely wonderful. Drew Magary has written an honest and funny and moving account of his journey into parenthood. He has an eye not only for the absurdities of the human condition but also for its deeper meanings.

A memoir that shines with refreshing realness... For all his potty-mouthed, free-form commentary, Magary demonstrates a noble belief in love, honor and freeze-framing moments with kids who always seem to grow up way too fast.

Drew Magary's book shows better than anything else I've read--with humor and sadness and fear and style--what it's like to be a parent. He reveals the honest terror of it. But the beauty too, and the dragginess, and joy, and all the rest
