SOMEONE BIRTHED THEM BROKEN is a lyrical story collection that centers on the intersecting lives of Ghanaian youth and their loved ones, over generations, investigating the complexities of familial bonds, sexual freedoms and romantic encounters, and sustaining friendships.

This is a linked multimedia collection of fiction studded with visual art. Despite the vast differences between the characters, these relationships are all interconnected. They are not heroes or villains, they are simply people, with all the flaws and inadequacies that come with living in a country mired in politics, religion, unfair policies, and dogma. The collection is perfect for fans of Brit Bennett, Zain Asher, Louis Edwards, and Bisi Adjapon.

AMA ASANTEWA DIAKA's poetry has appeared in print (Ehalakasa Anthology, (2011) Collected (2019)) and online in Litro Magazine, and was long listed for the BN Poetry Award in 2015. Akashic published her chapbook YOU TOO WILL KNOW ME in June 2019. She just completed an MFA at the Art Institute of Chicago.
