Some mistakes you have to make yourself

Patrick Ludolph

or how I photograph people.

You often look at photos and ask yourself "How was that done?". Behind some pictures there is a lot of effort, others are created rather casually and by a good portion of luck.

You often look at photos and ask yourself "How was that done?". Behind some pictures there is a lot of effort, others are created rather casually and by a good portion of luck.

I made many mistakes in my photographic carreer. Today I have to smile about some of them, I would like to undo some of them, but even in photography it is true: You learn from mistakes.

This book consists of two parts. First, I tell you about my basic philosophy, my approach to photographing people. The second part is a collection of my personal favorite pictures. For each picture I explain how it was taken, what the shooting parameters were, which light was used and above all what is the story behind. Some pictures have a longer story, others none at all.

It's about light and image design, but also about creativity and dealing with people in front of the camera. With this book I would like to give a personal view of things. It is not supposed to be a guide, but a thought-provoking stimulus, an encouragement.
