SOLOMON MACARONI AND THE COUSIN CATASTROPHE

Ashley Barton

Willy Wonka meets What We Do in the Shadows in this hilarious new series.
You've never met a vampire like Solomon Macaroni - he's friendly, polite and makes a mean tofu Bolognese. Understandably,
when his parents go on a one-hundred-year cruise, Solomon is not impressed. Especially because it means having to stay in Transylvania with his six cousins, who are the rudest and naughtiest vampires in existence. Not even his uncle, Count Dracula, can stop their pranks.
But when his cousins venture into the spooky Wildwood, Solomon must draw on all he knows - about old magic, wet wipes and the importance of a well-timed entrance - to save his catastrophic cousins and possibly the world.

An outstanding middle-grade debut from Ashleigh Barton, bestselling author of What Do You Call Your Grandpa?, What Do You Call Your Grandma? and How Do You Celebrate? A story full of high jinks, hilarity and heart, this book is perfect for reluctant and voracious readers alike.

Ashleigh Barton is a bestselling children's author from Sydney, Australia. After completing a law degree, Ashleigh decided she preferred books and spent the next six years working in publishing where she ran marketing and publicity campaigns. Now she writes books of her own, in between looking after her three small children and freelance copywriting. Her first picture book, What Do You Call Your Grandpa?, was a CBCA Notable.

This big-hearted book exudes so much light-hearted fun, but also shines a light on courage, friendship and coming to terms with loss.

Young readers have never met a vampire like Solomon Macaroni before (one that likes tofu!), and they'll love the chance to venture on a dangerous mission with him and his six cousins from Transylvania. There is plenty of humour here, and it's a novel that is wonderfully heartfelt, too. Perfect for young fans of adventure and comedy.

Full of humour and heart with a hint of the heebie-jeebies. Every kid will want to sink their little fangs into this book.

With pitch perfect charm and humour, Barton relates the tale of sweet-natured vampire, Solomon, and his family of vampires who have endured the banishment of magic from their world. Barton has created the world of the vampires with a sense of the ridicu-lous and a suitably child-like sense of humour, creating a tone reminiscent of Jaclyn Moriarty's Kingdoms and Empires series.

Solomon Macaroni and the Cousin Catastrophe is like Hotel Transylvania, The Little Vampire and the FunnyKid books all wrapped into one pleasant supernatural story.
