SKETCH MONSTERS

Joshua Williamson

Escape of the Scribbles

A vibrant color palette and wonderfully zany humor combine in this chase story that keeps you turning the pages, chasing monsters that have escaped the sketchbook of a budding young artist.
Mandy isn't very expressive of her feelings; she tends to bottle her emotions rather than really feel them, or release them into the world. But she does love to draw. When she's given a sketchbook by her older sister, who is leaving home for university, Mandy tries to sketch her emotions. Her feelings come out on the page as monsters, a wacky, colorful, absurd, wisecracking cast of monsters which come to life and give chase all over Mandy's house and town. She must track down and confront each and every monster and how they make her feel before they'll jump back in her book where they belong. There's a moving theme for children here about not being afraid to recognize and express your emotions, and SKETCH MONSTERS makes its point subtly within a riotously imaginative package.
