SHE RIDES SHOTGUN

Jordan Harper

Jordan Harper's debut novel IF ALL ROADS WERE BLIND follows an ex-con on the run with his young daughter from a vicious national gang—and the police.

Nate McClusky, just days before being released from prison, runs afoul of the powerful leader of a white supremacist gang with chapters all over America. On his release, he discovers that both he and his entire family have been “green lit” by the national organization for murder. When the bodies of his ex-wife and her husband are discovered, the police, too, are soon hunting for him. Nate kidnaps his 11-year-old daughter Polly, and tries to find ways to save them both. Fortunately, she is in many ways smarter than her dad. She is the heart of this brilliant novel. Readers will remember her for years.

Film rights have been sold to Parkes+MacDonald Productions in a major deal. The author will write the film script. The Parkes+MacDonald team was responsible for three consecutive Best Picture Oscars. Walter Parkes praised the work, saying that “Jordan's novel somehow manages to operate as a beautifully crafted piece of popular fiction and an E-ticket ride to a world which is equal parts terrifying yet strangely alluring at its core a deeply felt meditation on paternal love.”

Jordan Harper was a lead writer on the TV series, “The Mentalist,” and he has also written for “Gotham.” He has been an ad man, a music journalist and a film critic. His fiction has appeared in Thuglit, Out of the Gutter and Crime Factory.

A LESSON IN VIOLENCE [UK title] is quite simply one of the best debuts I've ever read. Beautifully and lyrically written, it's like a perfect song you hear for the first time and feel like you've always known it. It's an instant classic and if I read a better novel this year I will be amazed. -- Simon Toyne, bestselling author of THE SEARCHER
