SERPENTINE COURT

Kevin McFadden

For fans of Gaiman, the Cornetto Trilogy, and Midsomer
Murders a debut full of mystery, magic, and mirth.
Killian ‘Kill' Bouha is no ordinary guy, and that's before you find out who he works for.
When a corrupt lawyer vanishes from the sleepy village of Souldrop, Kill's only leads are the foot he left behind and a link to a disgraced peer, Lord Quinlan. Kill and his pet Hellhound, Rudy, are sent to investigate by his employers: Hackett, Howlett, and Hooke: Gatekeepers of the Underworld.
Using magic, alongside some good old-fashioned breaking-andentering (a skill honed in his youth), he tries to get closer to the truth, but when each new lead and each new suspect goes cold, he's going nowhere fast.
He eventually uncovers a link to the new estate on the outskirts of Souldrop, Serpentine Court, and finds that it has been constructed with dark magic at its heart. Residents are vanishing in droves and the empty flats are awash with a new and powerful drug. With the help of Amata, a young girl from the estate, he manages to pin the events onto Lord Quinlan and send him to his employers for questioning.
But something doesn't feel finished, and Kill is drawn back to Serpentine Court and into the dark shadows of the Underworld where he ends up battling against a demon more powerful than he could imagine.
With the case closed, there's no doubt that what was really behind it hasn't even begun to be uncovered.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born to an Irish father and English mother, Kevin McFadden was brought up in the new town of Milton Keynes, on a council estate with the real Serpentine Court at its heart. After studying International Communications at Lincoln and Sundsvall, Sweden he returned to Milton Keynes to teach English and Media at his old school. It was here that the inspiration for his first novel struck, growing from his love of twisted dark tales, dangerous characters and raucous Rock n Roll.
