SCREEN QUEENS

Lori Goldstein

The Bold Type meets The Social Network when three girls vying for prestigious internships through a tech incubator summer program uncover the problematic practices of the company they once dreamed of working for.
Three thousand applicants. An acceptance rate of two percent. A dream internship for the winning team. Tech Stars of Tomorrow is the most prestigious high school incubator program in the country. And Lucy Katz, Maddie Li, and Delia Meyer have secured their spots.

When the girls first arrive on campus, they're convinced they don't have anything in common aside from their gender. Lucy is a type-A overachiever ready to win and party, Maddie is more interested in bolstering her graphic design portfolio than she is in making friends, and Delia, the coder, struggles to cope with her shyness miles away from home.

Once the competition starts, the girls see just how challenging the next five weeks will be. As if there wasn't already enough pressure, they soon learn that they would be the only all-female team to win TST. It will take each of their unique talents and strengths to secure the grand prize.

But there's more to TST than killer code and schmoozing with investors. As the weeks go by and tensions rise, the girls band together in the face of bullying, IP theft, and blatant sexism. Along the way, they work to uncover and expose the true motives of the company and the man they once dreamed of working for.

Lori Goldstein was born into an Italian-Irish family and raised in a small town on the New Jersey shore. She earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from Lehigh University and worked as a writer, editor, and graphic designer before becoming a full-time author. She currently lives and writes outside of Boston. Lori is also the author of the young adult contemporary fantasy series Becoming Jinn (Feiwel & Friends/Macmillan).
