SALTWATER VAMPIRES

Kirsty Eagar

SALTWATER VAMPIRES is a fast-paced thriller about a teenage boy who has to contend with both girls and vampires, set against the backdrop of a music festival and Australian surf culture.
A solid blow to the jaw knocked Jamie’s head back, jarring his teeth together. He felt a sharp pressure on his neck before the skin tore, making his nerves screech. His neck was being ripped apart so savagely that his entire body shook.

For Jamie Mackie, summer holidays in the coastal town of Rocky Head are about surfing, making money, and good times at the local music festival. But when he is savagely attacked in the surf one night by his former buddy Dale, he knows things are going to be different this year.
The Mutineers are in town, a band of ancient vampires whose origins can be traced back to the shipwreck of the Batavia off the West Australian coastline in 1629. They’ve worked their way onto the festival’s line-up, and if their plans succeed nobody in Rocky Head will survive to see out the new year.

Meanwhile, a new drink called Juice has strange side effects. People sleep all day, party all night and have developed a taste for raw meat. New girl, Talia, creates friction between Jamie and his loyal mate, Tanner, and adds to his long standing tension with surfer girl Kelly. But Jamie soon realises that romantic complications are the least of his worries.

Like Dale, Jamie is now infected, the vampire venom in his system slowly transforming him into one of the un-dead. As they uncover the Mutineers’ plans, Jamie and his friends are forced to put aside their differences as they race against time to save themselves, and the lives of thousands. Kirsty Eagar grew up on a cattle property in central Queensland. After studying economics, she worked on trading desks in Sydney and London before changing careers, wanting a life where she could surf every day. She travelled around Australia living out of a four-wheel drive, worked as a cook and personal trainer, and began writing fiction. Her critically acclaimed debut novel Raw Blue was published in 2009. Kirsty is married and lives with two daughters on Sydney's northern beaches. For more informations visit http://www.saltwatervampires.com.au
