RINZEN ET L'HOMME PERDU

with the ability to sleep standing up. But Desautels knew better.
She was taking in the scene. This demeanour had struck him the
first time he saw her. She has the force of inertia, he had thought
at the time. And it was for that reason, years later, she was an
inspector with the Major Crimes Unit.

Rinzen Choden, a young sergeant in the major crimes unit of the SPVMMontréal's Police, lives with her parents, first-generation immigrants who fled Chinese-occupied Tibet. Samuel Clément is flourishing as a Dominican Father. His unshakeable faith seems to seduce everyone he meets, until that fateful day in 1970 when a seven-year-old boy sets foot in his confessional. Thirty years later, Samuel leaves the order, locks himself away in a small apartment and awaits a death that does not come, all the while writing in the pages of a diary that will reveal how, over the years, torn apart by a destructive fascination and bound by the seal of the confessional, he witnessed the transformation of a sevenyear-old boy into a murderer.

After an acting career spanning 15 years, Johanne Seymour turned to staging, writing and directing. Since 2004, she has devoted her time to writing novels. Her first novel, Le Cri du cerf (The Cry of the Stag), featuring detective Kate McDougall, aired as a television series in spring 2016.
