RESONANT

Bob Proehl

RESONANT and DISSONANT is a SciFi duology about a growing population of humans with special 'abilities' and their desperate attempt to either fit in to the world as we know it, or to create a world of their own.

Del Rey will be making RESONANT a major lead title in July 2019. They will publish the sequel - DISSONANT - in Summer 2020.

RESONANT is set in a world we know - one of fear, war and racism - when suddenly a growing group of people born with 'abilities' come to light. These are the resonants, and while they have certain gifts, they are still people, with human flaws: they can be good, evil, scared and powerful.

When the resonants start to gain fame, Avi Hirsch, a war correspondent injured from his last tour, is called upon by a school of resonants to tell their side of the story - to control the narrative. They choose him because he is on the good side. They also choose him because his daughter, Emmeline, is a resonant too...

Bob Proehl grew up in Buffalo, New York, where his local comics shop was Queen City Bookstore. He has worked as a bookseller and programming director for Buffalo Street Books, a DJ, a record store owner, and a bartender. He is the author of A Hundred Thousand Worlds, an Amazon Best Book of the month and a book laden with lovely praise from the likes of Charles Yu, Karen Joy Fowler and Eleanor Henderson. He was a 2012 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in Fiction and a 2013 resident at the Saltonstall Arts Colony.
