PROOF OF FOREVER

Lexa Hillyer

Lexa Hillyer’s debut YA novel written in collaboration with Paper Lantern Lit. A former editor, published poet, and the co-founder of PLL, Lexa’s first novel has been a long time coming.
The Interestings meets The Fault in Our Stars in this lyrical YA novel about four friends who receive an unlikely chance to relive the perfect summer of their fifteenth year... and the devastating secret that could unravel it all. When seventeen-year-old Joy requests that her former best friends Zoe, Tali, and Luciana meet at a camp reunion in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, the other three girls expect a single night of carnival rides, cotton candy, and goodbyes. Instead, they travel back in time to an unforgettable summer two years ago through a broken photo booth. Struggling to make it back to the present by acquiring all of the objects they had in their original end-of-summer photo, they unravel the mysteries of their lost friendship, heal old wounds, and discover a heartbreaking secret in an epic summer of second chances. Lexa Hillyer received her BA in English from Vassar College and her MFA in Poetry from Stonecoast at the University of Southern Maine. She has received various poetry awards, including the 2011 Melissa Lanitis Gregory Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the 2012 Foreword Book of the Year Awards for her first book of poems, Acquainted with the Cold. She was also named one of the Best New Poets of 2012 by Matthew Dickman. Lexa worked as an editor at both Harper Collins and Penguin, and is co-founder of boutique literary incubator Paper Lantern Lit. She likes collages, and lives in Brooklyn with her husband and a very skinny orange tree.

Lexa Hillyer's debut novel is sexy, soulful and surprising. The beautiful sentences, the honest characters, and the vivid setting all sparkle. The ultimate friendship story that captures all the joys of a summer at camp with the heartbreaks of growing up, PROOF OF FOREVER felt more like a world I was living in than a book I was reading.

A beautifully written testament to the power of friendship and the possibility of second chances, told with humor, heart, and a little bit of magic.
