POISON

Galt Niederhoffer

From acclaimed film producer and novelist Galt Niederhoffer comes another no-holds-barred examination of the American domestic ideal. POISON is a literary psychological thriller audiobook about a marriage that follows minor betrayal into a bubbling stew of lies, cruelty, manipulation, and danger.
Cass and Ryan Connor have achieved family nirvana. With three kids between them, a cat and a yard, a home they built, they seem to have the Modern Family dream. Their family, including Cass' two children from previous relationships, has recently moved to Portland - a new start for their new lives. Cass and Ryan have stable, successful careers, and they are happy.

But trouble begins almost imperceptibly. First with small omissions and white lies that happen daily in any marital bedroom. They seem insignificant, but they are quickly followed by a series of denials and feints that mushroom and then explode with menace.

With life-or-death stakes and irreversible consequences, POISON is a chilling and irresistible reminder that the closest couple's bond, designed to protect and provide for each other and for their children, can change in a minute.

Engrossing.this is a chilling and entertaining novel.

A gripping, insightful work ... thoroughly absorbing.

Niederhoffer's latest, taken from the annals of her own true life story, is a can't-put-it-down, intense literary psychological thriller. With a fast-paced, articulate, and sophisticated third-person narrative, she expertly dispenses her traumatic tale of horrific betrayal, evil misdeeds, and conspiracy theories, while her amazingly vivid descriptions give readers a fly-on-the-wall viewpoint of this painful yet fascinating story.. Her plot is flawless and her modern Agatha Christie twists and turns make this an addicting keeper for all true crime/mystery lovers.

This thriller has a slow and menacing pace, perfectly suited to the plot of suspected, sophisticated gaslighting.

With gripping, nuanced style, Galt Niederhoffer has written a novel - think of Gone Girl - that delivers an unbelievable reality, with twisty, turn-y, modern-day noir panache. Poison is both entertainment and a warning and that is saying a lot.

The novel is ominous from Page 1, and with its slow-burn perilboth psychological and physicalbuilding nicely, the suspense is sustained until the very end.

It will grab you.unsettle you.make you question the things you hold dear family, marriage, and sanity. And it won't let go until the very end.
