One Hundred Year Bloodline

As Patigul’s first novel and a semi-autobiography, On Hundred Year Bloodline depicts the legend of a family and its five generations, and the vicissitudes of the west during a whole century, reflecting its great historical evolution. The novel incorporates mysterious elements such as religious myths and folktales, combines facts and fantasies in a subtle way, and reveal an indescribably extraordinary world. It has a coherent plot, and Patigul’s poetic style makes the readers experience both the wild and tender parts of the writer’s emotion; sometimes it cheers you up, and sometimes it moves you to tears. It is one of the best works in the literature of Chinese ethnic minorities.
