NOTORIOUS

Gordon Korman

NOTORIOUS is a hilarious and heartwarming story with a mystery twist from bestselling author Gordon Korman. When Keenan moves to Centerlight Island in Michigan - a tiny, freezing island with a sordid smuggling history - he soon meets the unforgettable Zeebee: brash, gangster-obsessed, and trailed by an unimpressive cocker spaniel named Barney Two. Zeebee's seeking justice for what she's convinced was the murder of Barney One, a huge part-mastiff-part-Rottweiler that everyone on the island hated.

Keenan is drawn into Zeebee's search for Barney's murderer, which soon also becomes a hunt for buried treasure. But when the kids start to uncover the threads of a shocking conspiracy, they realize that someone is after them. And Keenan might have found the best friend ever in Zeebee, but that won't matter much if whoever is after them catches up.

Gordon Korman wrote his first book at age fourteen and since then has written more than eighty-five middle grade and teen novels, including the New York Times bestsellers THE 39 CLUES: CAHILLS VS. VESPERS, UNGIFTED, POP, and SCHOOLED. Gordon is also the author of the Masterminds series.

[...] Chalk up another treat for Korman fans. -- Kirkus Reviews

[...] Korman sketches characters with swift, sure strokes and places them in a distinctive setting: situated on an island in the St. Clair River, their town sits on a zigzagging international border dividing Michigan from Ontario. A subplot involving a treasure hidden by historical gangsters provides local color, but it's the intrepid young detectives who drive the story and make this a book that Korman fans won't want to miss. -- Booklist

[...] Korman is reliably at the head of the pack in middle-grade quirkiness, and his fans will be well pleased with this fresh title. -- Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books
